1. What this policy covers
This page explains how SDL Commercial Insurance (Samuel D Landers Agency) uses cookies and similar technologies on https://www.sdlcommercialinsurance.com/, which is hosted on Squarespace.
It works together with our Privacy Policy, which describes how we handle personal information more broadly (including California CCPA/CPRA rights and SMS consent), and our SMS Terms & Conditions for text messaging.
2. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. Similar technologies include local storage, pixels, and scripts that recognize your browser or device.
Cookies can be:
- First-party — set by our site / Squarespace
- Third-party — set by another company (for example Google, if their tools are embedded or enabled)
3. Types of cookies we use
A. Necessary / essential cookies
These help the site work. Examples:
- Keeping the site secure and loading pages correctly
- Remembering basic site preferences where required by the platform
- Supporting core Squarespace platform functions
Without these, parts of the site may not work properly. They are typically set by Squarespace as part of hosting.
B. Analytics / performance cookies (enabled)
These help us see how visitors use the site (pages viewed, rough traffic patterns) so we can improve pages for California artisan contractors.
- Squarespace platform metrics may also apply as part of hosting.
- Google Analytics 4 is enabled via Squarespace (measurement ID G-3EGHVQ78C7). Google may set cookies and process usage data under Google’s policies.
C. Marketing / advertising cookies (if any)
These are used to measure or deliver ads, or to build audiences across sites.
Ad platforms (disclosure): We may use Meta (Facebook/Instagram) Pixel, Google Ads tags, and the LinkedIn Insight Tag for paid marketing, campaign measurement, and audience building. As of this update, those advertising tags are not installed on the site yet. When they are installed, this section applies and we will provide any required consent or opt-out options (including any “Do Not Sell or Share” mechanism described in our Privacy Policy).
D. Functional / embedded third-party cookies
Our site includes or links to tools that may set their own cookies when you use them:
| Feature | Provider | What may happen |
|---|---|---|
Online booking (/schedule) — Meet in the field (30 minutes) / Quick call (15 minutes) |
Google Calendar appointment links / embeds | Google may set cookies and process booking details and technical data when you open or complete a booking |
| Click-to-call / phone | Your phone / device; RingCentral | No website cookie required for dialing; calls are handled by your carrier and our RingCentral phone system (call recording may apply where enabled) |
| Social links (X, Facebook, LinkedIn) | Those platforms | Cookies from those sites apply after you leave ours and visit their pages |
| Paid marketing tags | Meta, Google Ads, LinkedIn | Not installed yet — disclosed for future use; when installed may set cookies / pixels for ads measurement and audiences — see Privacy Policy |
| Site hosting & platform | Squarespace | Platform cookies for security, performance, and site operation |
4. Why we use cookies
We use cookies and similar tools to:
- Operate and secure the website
- Remember limited preferences where needed
- Understand site traffic and improve pages for California artisan contractors (Google Analytics via Squarespace —
G-3EGHVQ78C7) - Enable scheduling through Google Calendar appointment tools
- Support paid marketing and measurement via Meta, Google Ads, and LinkedIn tags when those tools are installed (not installed yet as of this update)
5. How long cookies last
- Session cookies — usually deleted when you close your browser
- Persistent cookies — remain until they expire or you delete them
Exact lifetimes depend on Squarespace and Google; check your browser’s cookie tools for current values.
6. How you can control cookies
You can control cookies in several ways:
- Browser settings — Most browsers let you block or delete cookies. Look under Settings → Privacy / Cookies. Blocking all cookies may break parts of the site (including booking).
- Private / Incognito mode — Limits how long cookies stick around, but does not stop all tracking while the window is open.
- Google account / ad settings — If Google tools are involved, you can review Google’s privacy and ad controls (for example, Google’s Ads Settings and their cookie explanations).
- Platform tools — No separate Squarespace cookie preference center is enabled for CA visitors as of this update; use browser controls and Privacy Policy request channels. If Squarespace shows a cookie banner or preference center on your plan/region, use those controls when available.
For California privacy rights related to personal information (access, delete, correct, opt-out of sale/share), see our Privacy Policy and contact us at (408) 876-7107 or privacy@sdlfarmers.com.
7. Do Not Track / Global Privacy Control
Some browsers send a “Do Not Track” (DNT) signal. There is no single industry standard for DNT. We do not currently treat DNT as an opt-out of sale/share because we are not selling/sharing via ad tags. When ad tags are installed, we will honor applicable opt-out signals including GPC as required and update this section.
If we sell or share personal information as defined under California law, we will honor applicable opt-out signals as required. See the Privacy Policy for our current sale/share stance.
8. Third-party policies
For more detail on how third parties handle data:
- Squarespace — squarespace.com privacy / cookie documentation
- Google (Calendar, and Google Analytics 4 — enabled) — Google Privacy Policy and related cookie help pages
- Meta (Facebook/Instagram), Google Ads, LinkedIn — each platform’s advertising / privacy / cookie policies
- X, Facebook, LinkedIn (social profile links) — each platform’s own privacy and cookie policies
We do not control third-party cookies once those services load or once you visit their sites.
9. Children’s privacy
Our site is for adult business customers (California contractors and similar commercial clients), not children under 13 (or under 16). We do not knowingly use cookies to collect information from children. See the Privacy Policy for more.
10. Updates
We may update this Cookie Policy when our tools or practices change. The effective date at the top will be revised when we do. Please check back periodically.
